Craft Guild of Chefs to cook up a culinary treat at ceda Conference

Craft Guild of Chefs to cook up a culinary treat at ceda Conference

We are delighted to announce that the Craft Guild of Chefs will be designing and producing the meal for the Gala Dinner at the 2019 ceda Conference!

For the last three years, the leading chefs’ association have prepared the dinner for our Thursday evening meal at the annual ceda event and it has always been well received by the attendees of the informal networking dinner. It started as a way of demonstrating our collaboration with other industry bodies and associations and has blossomed into an annual occurrence.

Alan Paton

This year, in a break with tradition, the Craft Guild of Chefs are designing and creating the menu for the Friday night Gala Dinner & Grand Prix Awards – headed up by chef Alan Paton.

Alan is a well-known figure in the industry and an active committee member of the Craft Guild of Chefs and of The Master Chefs of Great Britain and works with Springboard Futurechef. Using his 30 plus years of experience he loves mentoring and bringing on the next generation of chefs. Outside of this he runs his own chef consultant company Paton & Co.

Alan has been involved with the preparation of the Thursday night dinner at the ceda Conference for the last four years. This year he will lead a team made up of James Carn, Michael Eyre, Tracy Pereira and Matt Wilby.

ceda Director General, Adam Mason, is looking forward to seeing what Alan and his team produce. He said, “I’m delighted that we are continuing our strong relationship with the Craft Guild of Chefs at this year’s Conference. We have been treated to some outstanding experiences over the last couple of years and I have no doubt that we are in for a culinary treat once again in 2019. The Thursday night dinner is traditionally a more relaxed and informal affair and the food and menus that the Chefs have created has reflected this perfectly. Alan and the team will have full control over the design and delivery of the more formal Gala Dinner menu and I’m excited to see what is delivered on the night.”

ceda Silver Partner Foster Refrigerator & Gamko Launch Free Next Day Delivery Service

Foster Refrigerator & Gamko Launch Game Changing Free Next Day Delivery Service

Today Foster Refrigerator and Gamko have launched a free next day delivery service across their most popular products.

It can be debilitating for any foodservice operation to wait days or weeks for their replacement refrigeration. Getting products the very next day, free, when ordered before 12:30pm, can save restaurants and bars from wasted produce and a potential drop in custom.

Ewen Cairns, UK Sales Manager for Foster and Gamko said, “Whether your refrigeration was on its last legs or suffered an unexpected breakdown, we know how important it is to receive your replacement product as soon as possible. Food can spoil if it isn’t kept at the right temperature, and a restaurant without a fridge is like a phone without a battery, it just won’t work!

“In terms of chilled drinks, we all know that an unintended warm beverage, or long waiting times at a bar due to limited stock, can put people off returning. Foster and Gamko know how important it is to ensure the smooth operation of anyone serving food or drink, and so to avoid loss of both money and custom, we’re delighted to launch our free 24-hour delivery service ‘SOS’, helping you to Save On Stress!”

With this in mind, industry leaders Foster and Gamko have been working hard to offer customers a service, that by industry standards would have previously cost upwards of £125, for free.

“After speaking to foodservice professionals about their pain points, we knew our SOS service would help rectify the issues they were facing with delivery times in the industry,” said Nick Bamber, European Head of Marketing for Foster and Gamko.

The SOS free 24-hour delivery is available across our most popular ranges, including EcoPro G2, XTRA, Slimline, Blast Chillers, Maxiglass and more!

To ensure customers get their order on time and as they expected, Foster and Gamko have produced a helpful video highlighting the important initial checks all customers should make before using the SOS service or ordering in general. The video can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IY3ZOJjE2F0

Derek Maher becomes ceda Vice-Chair

Derek Maher becomes ceda Vice-Chair

We are delighted to announce Derek Maher as the new ceda Vice-Chair.

Industry insiders will know Derek as MD and founder of Crystaltech, the UK’s largest independent company specialising in the installation and servicing of all makes and models of commercial glasswashers and dishwashers.

At the ceda Board meeting in December, Derek was formally appointed to the position and will assume the Chair role at the AGM in April 2019.

Derek replaces Phil Howard of Catering Design Group who stood down due to a significant increase in business meaning he would be unable to give the Chair role the commitment he would have wanted to. Thankfully, Phil still is remaining on the Board.

Of his appointment, Derek commented, “With a background in Marine Engineering, Major Projects and Industrial Metallurgy my wife Maxine and I formed the basis of Crystaltech from our garage in 1980 with myself as the first (and only) engineer. From that perspective I am able to understand the challenges that face ceda Members of all sizes. I have been a very active member of the ceda Technical Steering Group for a number of years and see first-hand how that has helped to improve industry standard and our membership.

“In the role as ceda Vice-Chair, I hope to build on the links that I have with other associations and institutions to the benefit of our ceda membership and the industry as a whole.”

ceda Director General, Adam Mason commented, “Derek is very personable and incredibly giving of his time and vast knowledge for the betterment of the Association, fellow Members and the industry at large. I very much look forward to working closely with Derek during his tenure as Chair.”

New judge for 2019 Grand Prix Awards

New judge for 2019 Grand Prix Awards

Catering equipment industry trade body, ceda, are delighted to welcome a new judge for the Grand Prix Awards 2019.

Ron Neville will join long-standing ceda judge John Savage (now in his 7th year of judging) to determine the winners of this year’s coveted awards.

Ron replaces outgoing judge Brian Booth, who retired from the position following last year’s awards, after six years in the role.

Ron himself received the ceda Industry Personality Award in 2016 on his retirement.

Of the appointment, Adam Mason, ceda Director General said, “With a huge knowledge and experience base, having worked in various roles across the industry during a long and distinguished career, Ron is perfect for the role.”

Ron himself said, “I am extremely happy to be invited to judge the ceda Grand Prix awards and I am looking forward to visiting the sites with John to view the great projects produced by ceda members in 2018.”

The deadline for entries was this Monday, 14th January. Entries are up by 50% which “demonstrates the growth of the membership and ceda’s engagement with it, as well as the continued excellence of projects and service delivered by ceda Members”, says Mason.

Together, Ron and John will work through all the entries received and decide an initial shortlist. Following the submission of further, more detailed information and deliberation, a final shortlist is arrived at.

They will then visit each one in person to gauge a better understanding of the project put forward, and ultimately decide the winner of each category. The categories for this year’s Awards are; Small Project (up to £100k in value), Medium Project (between £100k and £300k), Large Project (over £300k), Outstanding Customer Service Award, Project Management, and the Rising Star Award.

The presentation of the Grand Prix Awards will take place at the gala dinner, on the final day of the annual ceda Conference. This year’s Conference takes place on 4th & 5th April at Heythrop Park, Oxfordshire.

New Lincat Grill provides ideal Synergy

New Lincat Grill provides ideal Synergy

One of the most dramatic industry partnerships has been unveiled today. The revolutionary multi-patented Synergy Grill technology will, for the very first time, be available to those desiring a suited chargrill solution, thanks to a unique agreement between Synergy Grill and the leading prime cooking provider, Lincat.  Synergy Grill has never before allowed its unique British made advanced grill technology to be used by another company, although the benefits of; massive energy savings, cleaner, safer kitchens, cleaner ventilation shafts and above all higher food quality, are now being increasingly specified by a wide range of end users.

The move, which will see the two British companies collaborating on a number of initiatives and projects, has been designed to ensure that customers who aspire to a suited look and feel within the kitchen, can now upgrade to what is widely seen as the future of commercial cooking.

Justin Cadbury, Chairman of Synergy Grill, enthused:

“We are delighted to be supplying this technology and associated experience to Lincat who, like Synergy, has an industry reputation for outstanding quality and premium customer service. During the early stages of this collaboration, our team discussed the growing influence of digital innovation in adjacent industries, including platforms like seriöses Casino ohne Anmeldung, which emphasize seamless user experiences without compromising on trust and reliability. This mindset resonated with Lincat’s vision to deliver the best possible equipment, with the fastest financial payback. In such a tight margin market, restaurants need to ‘future proof’ themselves with the best available technology.”

Chris Jones, Managing Director of Lincat is delighted with the new agreement:

“Synergy Grills bring many benefits to the operator with significant gas savings, higher flavour and moisture retention that delivers more succulent food, and one of the easiest cleaning regimes in the industry. The grill has become, for many, an essential part of quality food delivery and therefore Lincat is delighted to be able to offer Synergy Grill technology within our Opus 800 Series. We look forward to working with the Synergy team on numerous projects in the coming years, especially those which demand precise menu formatting to optimise the customer experience.”

Utilising the very latest patented technology, Synergy Grills produce a better cook result, require less ventilation and are one of the easiest grills to clean. Instead of adding to the ever growing number of fatbergs, the grill simply atomises the fat thereby eradicating the need for fat trays. This means that operators just vacuum up any remaining dust at the end of service.

Lincat will be adding the two new chargrills, incorporating the Synergy Grill technology, to its Opus 800 series offering, in both single and double formats.

For further information on the full Synergy Grill range or to arrange a demonstration, visit www.synergygrill.com, call 01480 811000 or email info@synergygrill.com. To enquire about purchasing an Opus 800 series Synergy Grill please visit www.lincat.co.uk or call 01522 875500.
