ceda Grand Prix Awards winners 2021
The winners of the 2021 ceda Grand Prix Awards were announced last night (Thursday 25th November 2021) at a gala dinner in Harrogate which brought to a close this year’s ceda Conference.
Winners from six project categories were announced, along with the overall winner, and the ceda Supplier Award.
All ceda members can submit entries for the Grand Prix Awards. The initial entry (which is done online) is an explanation of the project brief and the reasons the member considers it to be an outstanding achievement.
These entries are considered by the judges – John Savage and Ron Neville, both highly experienced industry personalities and former winners of ceda’s Industry Personality Award – who assess them against a number of criteria including degree of difficulty,
customer satisfaction etc.
The nudges choose those projects they would like to know more about. The members whose entries have been selected then have one month to provide further information including drawings, photographs, equipment schedules, testimonials and, most importantly, any further information that explains why they consider the project to be an outstanding achievement.
The judges then meet again to review all the remaining entries and to arrive at a shortlist for each category. Once the shortlist has been finalised, the judges arrange a programme of visits to the sites in conjunction with the member companies. This is no mean feat as this year they had to visit 16 locations spread throughout the country in a period of less than three weeks. They often had to visit two or three installations in one day!
During each of the visits they review the marks that they gave from the entry forms and adjust in the light of the knowledge gained from the site visit. Using these marks they then determine the category winners and also the overall winner.
