BRITA Professional ‘Grounds of Innovation’ awards crown the UK’s top 10 most innovative independent cafés
The 2026 Grounds of Innovation award winners showcase how independent cafés across the UK are finding new ways to innovate through coffee, sustainability and community.
Taking the top spot is Camphill Café in Milton Keynes, which impressed the judges with its approach to creating meaningful work and training opportunities for adults with a range of abilities.
The vegetarian café works closely with its artisan bakery, garden and land-craft workshops, supporting a wider mission to help people reach their full potential while creating a welcoming space for the local community.
This year’s awards come at a critical time for the hospitality industry, with nearly 100,000 jobs lost across the sector over the past two years as businesses contend with mounting costs and pressure on margins. Against that backdrop, The Grounds of Innovation awards shine a light on the independent cafés continuing to invest, adapt and find new ways to bring value to their customers and communities.
