The brief was to provide the catering facilities for a new, purpose-built restaurant called ‘The Bothy’.
The new table service restaurant was to offer a seasonal menu made using the finest and freshest locally sourced ingredients with a seating capacity of approximately 110, with the potential to increase by another 60 seats outside in a patio area to the side of the main entrance to the restaurant.
A new coffee counter area with jewellery specification chilled cake display, front counter joinery, high specification solid surfaces, tops and cabinetry, tiling and wall & floor finishes were also part of the package. This also then extended out to the restaurant furniture, tables and booth seating. All of which were designed to complement the owners high specification decorative expectations for the restaurant, which included floral arrangements and countryside pastel shades.

‘Catering is a huge part of the garden centre, it’s a big part of trade, almost a third of all sales come from catering. I have had dealings with Vision in the past, they’ve always been really efficient and competitive and we just felt that Vision had got our brief, they really understood what we were looking for – the level of equipment, the quality we were after. They really understood us, obviously the pricing was right as well which was important and they were really professional from the off.
We already had a really good catering offer on site but we wanted to be able to offer something a little bit higher. We knew there was a demand from our customers, those who wanted wining and dining, a little bit more luxurious surroundings, and they were prepared to pay a bit more. So we talked this through with Vision and said that was what we were looking for, we talked through menu ideas at the time that we had, we looked at proposals and different mood boards for what we were looking for front of house. That obviously gave them a bit of an impetus as to what we were looking for back of house in the kitchen area and of course the bar area – the quality we were aiming for and the fact that it’s a full table service restaurant. Vision were really good in understanding what we were looking for, they were also very very accommodating. The design process, working with Chris, he was very patient and the team who put the drawings together were really patient and they worked efficiently when we made changes
