Somerset Care

GS Group Limited

We have over 20 year’ experience of working with Somerset Care Homes who have 27 homes across the South West and Isle of Wight.

We provide them with a service for kitchen design, supply and installation of equipment for new builds, refurbishments of existing kitchens and one off pieces of equipment as well as consumables for the correct use of equipment. We also provide service and maintenance of equipment including breakdown cover for all equipment, refrigeration and extraction 24 hours a day, 365 days a year!

We work closely with with the Somerset Care maintenance team and have had specialist spares made so that we could support their older equipment when parts were no longer available.

We are also able to offer them loan equipment if it is needed in an emergency for example if a fridge breaks down and we have to wait for parts or a new piece of equipment has a long lead time and they need something in the inetrim.

When replacing equipment we steer them in the direction of cost effective equipment and support energy efficiency, longer warranty periods and often longer lifespans to reduce costs to the Care Group. For example we used to provide miele semi-commercial dishwasher machines and due to the amount of breakdowns we have attended these have now been swapped to the Hobart Ecomax commercial dishwasher machines that can cope with the volumn of usage. It was also identified that the Foster Xtra refrigeration was not suitable for the heavy use of the care homes, this was exchanged to a Hoshizaki unit which was more suitable for the continuous use.

The project director, administration staff and service / breakdown engineers remain the same to ensure continuity of people, this helps with understanding what each home requires and builds a solid relationship.

During lockdown in April 2020 Somerset Care were in the process of re-opening a care home which had to continue as it was for urgent care required for Covid patients. Due to the pressures put on them we worked outside of our own procedures and sought out equipment to place orders for immediate delivery so that the installation of the kitchen equipment would be done with a very quick turnaround. We had a skeleton crew working from home and our estimator and project team managed to develop the quotation, place orders and arrange delivery and installation within a few weeks! We received a letter of thanks from Somerset Care Chief Executive, Gary Ridewood for our hard work during this difficult period.

Client Satisfaction

‘We are grateful for the organised way everyone has worked together to get this project completed in a very short space of time. The home will be providing essential care and support to extremely vulnerable residents and we wold not be in a position to do this without you help’.

– Gary Ridgewood, Chief Executive, Somerset Care.
