HMS Host

Vision Commercial Kitchens

HMS Host is part of Autogril S.p.A – the world’s largest provider of food and beverage services for travelers. They create innovative dining locations at airports worldwide. Vision have been working with HMS Host for the past 10 years on numerous sites, throughout the country. Projects completed include East Midlands Airport, Heathrow, Manchester Airport T3, London Euston Station, Kings Cross Station, Liverpool Street to name but a few.

In 2020, we completed 4 projects for HMS Host at the brand new Manchester Airport Terminal 2. The 4 projects were all running simultaneously and we delivered the following concepts:

Pot Kettle Black – an independent coffee shop and bakehouse, brewing high quality coffee and cooking vibrant, easy-going food.
Amber Ale House – a unique gastropub featuring a selection of microbrewer labels and a wide selection of dishes.
VIT – offering healthy food, smoothies and juices.
Wrapchic – authentic Indian food in a ‘Grab & Go’ format.

Each of the projects offer a completely different concept and offering and so although they were all carried out for the same client, at the same time, the designs were all completely different. The conceptual designs were carried out by a fellow ceda member, and we were asked to take those designs and adjust them to suit the specific equipment specification that is typical of HMS Host. We also provided full service drawings, elevations and coordination drawings, supplied the equipment and installed the equipment. The initial installation for the 4 project should have been February/ March 2020 however due to the covid pandemic, this was delayed until November/ December 2020, with the equipment being commissioned in 2021 ready for opening as due to the covid pandemic the airport delayed the opening of the new terminal. We had to work closely with the airport and the client in order to manage and coordinate these delays.

As well as working with HMS Host for the past 10 years, we have also been providing the servicing for all of their UK sites for the last 2/3 years and have recently entered a 5 year service contract with them which includes servicing, planned preventative maintenance, capital replacement and project work for all of their sites. We also suspended the start date of the contract in order to work proactively with them due to the impact of the pandemic on their sector. We continue to do so going forward in order to assist as the travel sector comes out of the pandemic. When the covid pandemic began, we worked with them to manage their sites that had to be shut down in order to decommission sites and equipment where necessary.

Client Satisfaction

‘Just whilst I have time, I wanted to let you know how impressed I have been with Mike (Project Manager). He’s been really helpful with a great attitude to what we all know has been a protracted and at times frustrating project.’
