The Grove Staff Restaurant refurbishment transformed an outdated employee canteen into a contemporary dining destination that reflects the standards of one of the UK’s leading luxury hospitality resorts. Serving up to 300 employees each day, the facility plays a vital role in staff wellbeing, engagement and retention. The Grove’s ambition was not simply to refresh the space, but to create an environment where employees could relax, socialise and enjoy the same level of care and attention to detail that guests experience throughout the wider estate.
Working as a single turnkey partner, TAG Catering Equipment UK delivered the complete redesign, including interior design, catering layout, building works, M&E coordination, furniture and installation. Within a constrained footprint, the team reimagined the entire dining experience, replacing rigid canteen-style seating with a mix of banquettes, high tables and social dining zones while completely re-engineering the servery to improve flow and reduce congestion. The result is a more flexible, restaurant-style environment that increases capacity, improves service efficiency and supports a modern hybrid dining model.
The project’s success was made even more impressive by the delivery programme. Following late-stage approvals, an original eight-week schedule was compressed into just four weeks, requiring meticulous planning, off-site fabrication and precise coordination across multiple trades while the hotel remained fully operational. Through intelligent design, careful value engineering and a relentless focus on user experience, TAG created a space that has transformed how employees interact with the facility. More than a refurbishment, the project represents a significant investment in workplace culture, demonstrating how thoughtful hospitality design can enhance staff wellbeing while supporting operational excellence.
