Youth Zone Grimsby
NWCE Foodservice Equipment
The Horizon Youth Zone project in Grimsby demonstrates how a relatively modest investment can deliver a facility with a lasting impact on the local community. Designed and installed by NWCE Foodservice Equipment, the kitchen forms a central part of a youth centre dedicated to supporting young people through education, wellbeing and life-skills development. More than simply a catering facility, the space was created to inspire confidence in cooking, encourage healthy eating habits and provide practical skills that can benefit young people throughout their lives.
Working within a compact footprint and a carefully managed budget, NWCE developed a fully electric kitchen that supports both food preparation and front-of-house service. The design incorporates modern cooking technology, refrigeration, dishwashing and service facilities, all carefully arranged to maximise workflow, safety and ease of use. Particular attention was given to hygiene, accessibility and operational efficiency, while innovative grease management solutions allowed the project to meet compliance requirements despite space limitations that prevented the use of traditional systems.
The project required close coordination as site layouts evolved during construction and logistical arrangements changed throughout the build programme. Through proactive planning, regular site reviews and effective collaboration with contractors, NWCE delivered a high-quality facility that met the client’s operational needs without compromising functionality or budget. The finished kitchen provides a safe, modern and sustainable environment that will support cooking programmes, educational activities and community engagement for years to come, creating value far beyond the physical installation itself.
