Everton FC New Stadium Project
C&C Catering Equipment Ltd
Working as a key package partner to Laing O’Rourke, ABDA was appointed to deliver the complete catering scope for the New Everton Football Club Stadium—a £9M+ project spanning 34 commercial kitchens, 40 walk-in cold rooms, and 38 ventilation canopies.
Our scope covered all back-of-house kitchens, 13 hospitality kitchens, and 20 concession outlets across the stadium’s concourse levels. These included high-spec cooking facilities, refrigeration systems, cold storage, dishwash areas, and fire suppression systems—engineered and installed to meet both Tricon Consultant specifications and the strict demands of a fast-paced construction programme.
With a live site and overlapping trades, ABDA deployed a full-time site team, including project director, project manager, site supervisor, H&S lead, and rotating design team visits to ensure real-time design coordination and quality control. Coordination with Laing O’Rourke’s package managers, document controllers, and commercial leads was continuous—backed by our own in-house design, procurement, and document control teams.
Key Delivery Strategies & Outcomes:
- 34 kitchens delivered in 14 months, including a main central production unit (CPU) and decentralised kitchens with standalone cold rooms and dishwash facilities.
- Off-site equipment consolidation & vesting allowed us to stage and QC all materials prior to delivery. This mitigated financial risk and improved logistical efficiency—especially critical after our Warrington storage partner entered administration mid-project. We responded quickly, relocating £5M of equipment without disruption.
- Detailed documentation included 2,000+ technical submittals, RAMS, M&E drawings, commissioning plans, and asset tagging to support future maintenance agreements.
- FORS Silver certification and rigorous logistics management ensured compliance with LOR’s delivery requirements, including crane lifts and strict scheduling for 20+ 40ft wagons.
- Labour strategy: We brought in a dedicated crew of labourers to support the skilled install teams—handling unboxing, positioning, waste removal, and final deep cleaning. This freed up our specialists to focus on install and system commissioning, keeping the fast-track programme on target.
Despite external challenges—including financial uncertainty with both LOR and Everton FC—ABDA adapted quickly with pre-agreed payment terms, risk-mitigating logistics, and flexible resourcing. Throughout, we maintained momentum and quality across the stadium footprint.
As of handover, we remain actively engaged in supporting the operator during live test events and ongoing stadium operations—a reflection of our long-term commitment to the success of this landmark venue.
