Gratte Brothers Catering Equipment Ltd was delighted to be appointed to supply and install commercial catering equipment over 5 levels of this new luxury 160-room hotel for Sir Robert McAlpine. The design and specification was delivered by Tricon and we developed this for delivery across 12 individual commercial catering and laundry areas.

The facilities include JOIA, the main restaurant from Michelin star Portuguese chef, Henrique Sa’ Pessoa, which celebrates the best of Portuguese and Iberian cuisine whilst showcasing panoramic views, JOIA Rooftop, a 16th floor rooftop bar offering 360 degree views across the famous Battersea Power Station, JOIA bar, a function room and pantry facility and a breakfast room on the upper ground floor. A unique addition for Gratte Brothers was the provision of the laundry facilities.

Logistically, the project needed to be planned closely due to the central location of the site so that all deliveries and inductions were booked in, in advance and arranged on a ‘just in time’ basis. The main challenge was the transportation of a one piece specialist cooking suite which arrived incorrectly from the factory in Italy in three large sections rather than in modular sections as planned. The units were therefore stripped down and reassembled once in situ to ensure no delays were caused or changes required to the specification.

The project also required close coordination with other trades and management of sub-contractors for refrigeration and fabrication requirements on the project.
